Schon beim Auspacken steigt die Vorfreude. Der Hut kommt in einer sehr wertigen Hutschachtel, in der man ihn auch lagern kann und sollte. Darin ist er nochmal in Papier eingewickelt. Schließlich hält man das schöne Stück in den Händen und freut sich: er sieht großartig aus, noch schöner als erwartet. Echte Handwerkskunst. Ich bin begeistert! Er passt gut, die Qualität ist makellos. An dem Hut stimmt alles. Nicht billig, aber auf jeden Fall preiswert!
Die Kommunikation während des Herstellungsprozesses war ebenfalls ausgezeichnet. Rückfragen und sogar kleine Änderungen wurden sofort sehr freundlich beantwortet. Man hat wirklich das Gefühl, hier soll der Kunde einfach zufrieden gestellt werden. Das wird nicht mein letzter Hut von Agnoulita sein.
So, I wanted a new hat, more like a cowboy one, but not a Stetson’s style.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ability to choose everything in the design, the material and the color and accessories.
The size is perfect, the color is what I expected, and the material is so incredible, I can custom shape it with a steam iron and I now have my dream cowboy hat.
I’m now going to get another one for this winter, probably a black felt one.
Oh, and the shipping was great and very carefully packaged.

For the fall and winter I have my wool, fur, and cashmere felts and for spring and summer I have my toquilla, sinamay, and raffia straw. I travel everywhere with my chapeaus in a beautiful travel case. From you I bought the Goucho in black, I love the cowboy look with the modern bolero style! For me I love the nostalgia that it brings me as I wore a similar black bolero in the 1980's when I was clubbing in Los Angeles. The product came as ordered: caribou felt, black ribbon, black sweatband, and golden-beige liner. Measurements were customized slightly with an extra quarter inch to the brim and admittedly an eyeballed hat size. The structure for both the brim and crown is moderate. The colors did exactly what I expected them to. The hat color looks grayer in cool light and browner in warm light, but often emulates a wet sand color. The liner shines just like in the example picture. Since the size was an estimate, it was just barely tight, but since I’ve been wearing it, it has adjusted to my head and sits comfortably. The moderate structure is flexible, but retains shape if kept well. To my own preference, I put a slight crease at the front of the crown and it has held since. Likewise, the brim isn’t intrinsically at a defined angle, coming in up when boxed, but you can put it how you like with time and personal styling. The texture of the felt is comparable to wool felt, though it is far stronger and of better quality. Other details are the signature diamond shaped teardrop, a small white X bow at the back of the sweatband, a gold etching monogram on the left side, and gold Agnoulita logo on the right(both upside down).
My experience with this company has been nothing short of satisfying. I’d been looking between hats on this site for a while and eventually decided to reach out with questions about structure options and extra photos and angles of the Capitol hat. They replied within a few hours and even gave me pictures of the Savoy to compare it with. They were very polite too. I ordered my custom hat and a brush with it. It arrived about a week ahead of schedule, an overall plus for me. It came in a round hat box with insulation, all inside another square box for safety. It took a day or two to get the hat to match with me, but it worked. As my first luxury fedora, I made a mistake or two with how I treated it, but it has been forgiving to me. It works well with suits, the hat being very 1930s/40s in essence. It holds up in the rain, though I have yet to use it much in the sun. I am very pleased with this hat. For anyone who cares, it was inspired by the niche Seaplane Poet seen in Indiana Jones, a grayer version of his classic hat. It fulfilled what I wanted out of it and I expect no less in the future. Though prices continue to go up, now even more than 50%, I trust this company will remain consistent with their quality. My wallet willing, Agnoulita will remain at the top of my list for new hats.
For my Capitol fedora, I ordered a rolled sweatband as it was advertised to add longevity and comfort to the hat. I can proudly say it was right. I've tried hats without this feature or otherwise where it has been worn out for decades and I find this new hat so much more comfortable. The sweatband on its own provides great resilience to sweat and excessive exposure to sweat will naturally leave a mark on leather, but that's still hardly noticeable and is an expected effect of leather. This is a must have feature on luxury hats.
On my ordered hat from this company(The Capitol), I purchased the extra initialing, using my three initials "ARJ" which were stamped in gold lettering on the left side of the sweatband. It's worth noting that this and the Agnoulita logo on the opposite side of the hat, also in gold, are read upside down, as you'd look at the interior of the hat from above. The reason I mention the logo is because, while the monogram doesn't exhibit any issues, the logo has a rub of gold etching out of place off the writing and there is a bit of missing gold in the middle of the logo. While it can still be read, still not that bad a detail, I worry slightly for how that may relate to the initialing. Was this an industrial error or did I mishandle the hat before I noticed this? Most importantly, can this happen to the monogram? While I have much trust for this company and their quality, these are still concerns of mine. The pricing does't pose an issue and I still think I would put this detail on any future hats.
I ordered a hat brush with my first order from this company. It arrived in a plastic bag alongside my hat. The package was well protected. Inscribed on the brush is "100% HORSEHAIR" "MADE IN GERMANY" in gold lettering. I've used it to occasionally brush stray hairs or any other specks of dirt or crumbs off my hat and it does its job well. Furthermore, I used it to clean up a vintage fedora which was covered in dust. It did a wonderful job at cleaning the hat and revealing the older color of the hat. No complaints. I expect a good life out of this brush and would gladly buy another from here should this one ever fail.
